The flotation cell is various in types in the mining industry, and different flotation separation methods should be chosen according to the specific separation need. Other than being used for separating metal, non-metallic mineral and energy minerals, flotation separation methods can also be widely used in the purification of plant effluent. Flotation separation method can be especially used for separating the particles with microcosmic size, and the experiment of using flotation cell to separate the sediment of ferric hydroxide is being researched, and some flotation separation methods have been widely used in large mining plants.

The application of flotation cell is very wide, and according to the actual industrial needs of different ore beneficiation processes for the flotation separation technology, and through constant technical improvement and innovation, the application cell flotation has been greatly improved. The application of flotation-cell technology has an important role in promoting the flotation separation efficiency, but the operation technology of cell flotation machine is one of the important factors influencing the working efficiency of flotation separator.

A flotation separator is mainly composed of pulp filling chute, mixing device, air charging system, mineralized bubble discharging device and electric motor. 

Working Principle of Flotation Cells

Flotation cells run by the triangle belt of the electrical motor driving the impellor to rotate, producing centrifugal effect which will form negative pressure, and on one hand it will absorb sufficient air in order to mix with the pulp, and on the other hand it will mix the pulp in order to mix with the reagents, and at the same time will refine the foam in order to stick the minerals onto the foam, and float on the surface of the pulp in order to become mineralization foam. The workers can adjust the height of the flashboard and control the liquid level in order to scrap the useful foam.

Matters That Often Neglected in Working Process of Flotation Plant

1. The surface action of the air and the minerals are selective.

2. Oxygen is beneficial to the primary hydrophobicity of sulphide ore. However, if the oxygen works for a long time, the mineral surface will become hydrophilic. If the adsorption condition of the air is proper, it will cause the hydrophobicity of the mineral surface, and flotation separation can be carried even without flotation agent.

3. When the minerals are crushed and new surfaces show, hydration may happen and the minerals will be hydrophilic. When the air adsorbs the mineral surface, it may weaken the hydration effect and cause primary hydrophobicity of new surfaces.
